I have been using "Crash Course" as a guide in the treatment of car accident survivors for many years. I myself have experienced severe car accidents in which I recovered using this book and receiving SE sessions. It can be difficult to relate symptoms to a car accident. If you start to have symptoms after a car accident (even years and decades later) that may not appear to be related to the accident: panic and anxiety, pain even though you may not have been "injured" in the accident in the way you are experiencing pain, chances are you are suffering as a result of the accident in a way that you do not yet understand. Our bodies go through many primal unconscious responses to overwhelming and traumatic experiences, in order to attempt to protect us from life threat and perceived life threat. Often times, due to the overwhelm, those responses get stuck and create symptoms.
Being facilitated with SE, a person can identify and complete those incomplete responses which can reduce or eliminate the symptoms. For example, the flight response almost always gets set off when in an accident, our innate response to threat is to get away from it to survive. However, in a vehicle we are typically strapped in and can't actually do that, and the innate response still initiates. The initiation of the flight response sends a cascade of signals to our body to move, sometimes those signals get started and don't turn off, continuing to send signals to move, which can end up looking like restless leg syndrome as well as low back, hip and foot pain. There are many other examples in the book of possible symptoms that could be related to an accident you had days, months or many years before. These symptoms can be happening beneath our radar of awareness until something triggers them, often a similar event or a trigger that can't be identified when symptoms emerge.
I am happy to talk with you on the phone to see if I am a good fit for you to explore utilizing SE as part of your recovery. I highly recommend SE in the treatment of auto accidents as soon as possible after an accident. If you've had an accident in your past and are currently having symptoms I encourage you to explore this therapy as a possible solution to reduce your symptoms and suffering.
